Connecticut River Valley Doorway

From the series of drawings, paintings and digital prints that merged historical and contemporary images.  This one overlays a traditional 18th century Ct. River Valley double doorway with the Greek Revival doorway on the Graves House (1792) on Dickinson Road in North Leverett, MA.  I am imagining that in the early 19th century when Greek-Revival was fashionable, the Graves family replaced their earlier colonial door with the “new” style more in keeping with the new Republic.
