Shed Study

Dickinson Road, Leverett, MA

 1985, 50x85, Oil on linen.

An early study of the rural New England cellar kitchen house on Dickinson Road built by Daniel Graves in 1792.  During this period painted and drawn images are built from single lines of color often woven together in groups of 5 strokes not unlike handprints.  Layers of lines are built up slowly over days, weeks, months from which the image emerges; a style attributed to being a painter and parent.
